Paper Planes

Dixie was looking for somewhere quiet to work when we brought the scissor lift up to the next level and attracted some attention.

Any piece going on the wall starts off the day on the floor.

We lose a lot of things when we use the ledge to hold our tools.  It doesn't look that far away but we won't be back there until it's time to grout. Unless we really need that roll of tape.

It's a tight squeeze on the scissor lift

Kate is grouting in charcoal.
Her hard work looks good!

Our friend Jeff, one of the architects, came to visit today.

This is a large mosaic and there is still lots of grouting to do!
They never stop grouting!

End of day 18!

Work Time vs. Snack Time

Mike with his handle bar mustache is pretty fierce.

Dixie continues the long job of grouting.

With Dixie and Kate grouting below, myself and Ferruccio clean up after the install of 6 pieces.

Large Spaces In Tight Spots

Kate, Ferruccio and Mike discuss grout colors.

We're slowly moving along the top row but the end is still far away.

The hop clovers are grouted in new taupe and the background sky in delorean grey (though it is still wet and will dry lighter).

The mosaic on the floor.

Which is unfortunately exactly as it fits on the wall, we will have some correcting to do tomorrow!

End of day 16!

One Thousand Miles Above Ground

Day 15 is the start of a very long day, piece 981!

The first piece to go in is actually a small one and it's piece 186 not 981,  which means we only have a few hundred more to go! Actually, it's more like 50 to be accurate.

We've been looking forward to getting the rest of the Mexican Hat installed.

A view from the scissor lift part of the scissor lift.

Kate's off to Houston after a full day of work to go home and move!

Sunset

We spend the morning peeling the tape off the hop clovers and we will install in the afternoon.

Kate and Ferruccio are ready with the pieces and wondering what's taking us so long.

It's Mike, he's posing for the cameras.
The Mexican Hat flower is successfully installed.

This is our view from the scissor lift

This is our view from the back window of our pickup truck.  The Texas sunset this evening looks a lot like Dixie's painting.
End of day 14!

Smooth Flying

We started the day off with a magic trick; somehow the step ladder stayed upright on it's own.

Ferruccio prepares the wall to install and Mike does some fixes.

This is what we hope to install today but it's a lot!

Kate's ready with the two most important tools, her brain and her hands. The 5in1 and the brush are also useful!

End of day 12!
We're excited to make it to the end of the middle rows today.

With some mortar left over, Mike and Kate scoot to the other end to get in 2 more pieces up top.

Some of the neat little details in the tiles up close.

Dixi and myself grouting.

We grouted the Indian Blanket in two colors, charcoal in the dark areas and new taupe in the lighter ones.

End of day 13!
